Hemellys is a marine biologist graduated from the International Maritime University of Panama (UMIP). He currently works in the Private Observer Program on board fishmeal vessels in the Improvement Project (PROME) of the small pelagic fishery of the Gulf of Panama.
She is also part of two projects, the first is shark and ray monitoring that is carried out in conjunction with the company Promarina S.A., UMIP and Shark Defenders. The second is Diversity, Distribution and Ecologic roles of sharks in the Tropical Eastern Pacific of Panama and Costa Rica in conjunction with STRI.
